A two alarm grass fire along the American River Parkway caused a 600-foot radio tower to collapse and damaged a second tower.

The fire was reported shortly before noon on Wednesday, located near Commerce Circle and Lathrop Way outside of Woodlake. Close to 35 firefighters fought the blaze, which also destroyed a small building that housed radio equipment at the base of the tower.

No word on a definite cause, though the fact that homeless camps have been moved day-to-day may suggest one.
