City Rcreation cuts programs and services

Beginning July 6, the City of Sacramento Department of Parks and Recreation will implement dramatic changes to its programs, services and facilities.

The Mims Hagginwood Community Center will be closed on Mondays and Fridays, and the Robertson Community Center will be closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Both facilities will open for rentals from 12:00pm until 8:00pm.

The program at Taylor Elementary School will end operation on July 6, 2009.

The grass will be mowed at each park every 10 to 12 days, and restrooms at Hagginwood, Mama Marks, Redwood, and Robertson parks will be closed with very minor exceptions such as large events (a permit is needed).

The Pools at Johnston, Mama Marks, and Robertson will remain open for recreational swim from 3:00pm to 5:00pm; they are closed on Mondays. Recreational swim for summer camp participants will also be restricted, if it occurs at all.

More details can be found in this Press Release.
