City Council returns from two week vacation

Tomorrow, the Sacramento City Council will return to work after a two week vacation and one can’t blame them if they felt like Clark Griswold trying to get to Wallyworld.

During their vacation, the City was able to strike a deal with firefighters but not with Local 39. This resulted in the closure of bathrooms, summer camps, pools, and community centers, along with service changes in park maintenance and garbage pickup.

We’ve already given a breakdown of the cuts in the North Area, and the conditions throughout Sacramento are not expected to improve. Some imply this is due to Local 39’s negotiation tactics, though it is unclear whether the City walked out on talks.

Either way, Sacramento has lost a lot, and it will be interesting to see how those losses are addressed.
