Northgate, Norwood ramps close tomorrow

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is advising motorists to expect ramp closures to begin on eastbound Interstate 80 in North Sacramento due to continued roadwork on the “Across the Top” project beginning this Friday night and lasting for approximately 32 days.

No two consecutive ramps will be shut down at one time.

Beginning 10 p.m. Friday, October 17 through midnight Wednesday, November 19 the Northgate Boulevard loop on-ramp and Norwood Avenue off-ramp for eastbound Interstate 80 will be temporarily closed.

A contractor is scheduled to perform saw cutting, demolition, concrete repair and pavement work. Delays are expected and Caltrans advises motorists to plan for the additional travel time and/or using alternate routes.

The estimated 32 day ramp closures are being scheduled to complete construction work before the Thanksgiving holiday and once completed will allow motorists access to a fourth eastbound lane on I-80.

Motorists are reminded to “Be Work Zone Alert” and “Slow for the Cone Zone”
