Northgate Park was re-dedicated today with the opening of a new playground, basketball court, and refurbished tennis court to include futsal.
The refurbished court is named after Arturo Carrillo, a former youth soccer coach you passed away in August 2010. The court includes one tennis court and one futsal court.
Futsal is a variant of soccer and its Portuguese translation, futebol de salão, is “half football”. Developed in the 1930s and 1940s, futsal is played between two teams of five players each, one of whom is the goalkeeper. Unlimited substitutions are permitted, though the game is played with a smaller ball with less bounce.
Northgate’s tennis/futsal court is open from sunrise to 10pm.
