Event to make a difference for community and Twin Rivers schools

Shoulder To Shoulder hosts its 5th Annual “Because We Care” day of service tomorrow, April 21 from 7:30am to 5pm.

Partnering with Twin Rivers Unified School District, over 500 volunteers will be inspired and equipped to complete campus clean-up, landscape, and beautification projects at Grant, Rio Linda, Highlands, and Foothill high schools, and Martin Luther King Jr. Technology Academy, plus a clean-up of surrounding neighborhoods.

Participants will meet for a continental breakfast at the Grant High School Gym. The day starts with a mandatory safety orientation, followed by transportation to assigned work sites. Members of the Twin Rivers’ Board of Trustees, Superintendent, and principals will kick-off the day with remarks at 8:15am.

Founded in 1996, Shoulder To Shoulder is a community-sponsored, faith-based non-profit corporation serving urban fatherless young men from middle school to high school graduation. Operating at MLK Jr. Technology Academy and Grant High School, the program provides mentoring, leadership training, character development, and engages youth in community service. Their vision is to equip urban fatherless young men for life, to become well-balanced, mature men in their family and community, breaking the cycle of generational fatherlessness.
