Three robbers tried to hold up a mini-mart in Del Paso Heights last night, but were stopped by a police officer hailed by a passerby. The suspects scattered: two made it out, and the third was stuck at the back door.
Enter Lamont Rogers.
Rogers grabbed the aluminum bat he keeps for protection and started beating the suspect to “subdue him”. Rogers said he couldn’t recollect how many times he hit the suspect, who asked Rogers why he was beating him (it has nothing to do with holding him up, does it?).
The suspect was taken to the hospital as a result of his injuries (brain damage?), while the other two are still at large.
Turns out Rogers is the same clerk who took down Richard Guy Hamilton when he allegedly tried to rob the store by lighting another clerk on fire in November.
