The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is coming this Saturday, May 9, 2009. The race helps raise money for breast health education and outreach, and screening and support services for women in the Sacramento Valley.
Breast cancer was recently brought to the spotlight with Good Day Sacramento’s Tina Macuha’s recent diagnosis of “Stage Zero” breast cancer. Tina decided to proceed with a bilateral mastectomy and is now recovering; her recovery can be followed on her blog. Additional information about Tina’s procedure and about breast cancer in general can be found at the Susan G. Komen website.
The Race for the Cure will take place at Cal Expo. The parking lots will open at 6:00am, followed by registration at the Main Gate from 6:15-7:45am. The Timed 5K run will start at 7:45am, and the non-Timed run/walk will start at 8:05 am. The 1-mile fun run/wal will start at 8:25am.
