Tonight, City Council will be presented with a project to construct a “Green Street” in Dixieanne.
The “Green Street” project would construct a bifurcated sidewalk separated from the traveled way by a storm water planter system. This sustainable design concept is used in some Pacific Northwest cities, most notably in Portland, OR.
This design would provide Dixieanne Avenue with an aesthetic enhancement and improved pedestrian facility, all while storm water filters through storm water planters. The project would be a first for the City of Sacramento, and act as a pilot program for future development.
The “Green Street” project will be presented at tonight’s City Council Meeting.
