Improvements may be coming to area parks

Improvements may be coming to three area parks; Gardenland Park, Hagginwood Park, and Strawberry Manor Park.

Gardenland Park may see the removal of its existing baseball field, volleyball and basketball courts to make way for a group picnic area with a shade structure, a skate park, a Freegame multi-use court, a dirt BMX track, additional landscaping and shade trees, and new furniture.

Plans for Hagginwood Park include a synthetic turf soccer field, a dog park, two basketball courts, a neighborhood skate park, a new restroom, a group picnic area with a shade structure, fitness stations, an outdoor theater, two new playgrounds with an interactive water mister area, educational oak grove, additional landscaping, and new site furniture.

Plans for Strawberry Manor Park include a group picnic area with shade structure, a new children’s playground with shade canopy, a water mister area, a multi-use sport court, individual picnic area, a stage, additional landscaping, and new site furniture.

More details can be found in the Report to Council, which will be presented to City Council on Tuesday, March 31, 2009.
