Jack Rea Park was reopened yesterday, October 23, 2010.

The park is named in memory of Francis M. “Jack” Rea, a member of the North Sacramento Police Department.

Known as”Jack the Cop”, Officer Rea was a reassuring presence in the former City of North Sacramento. He guarded school crosswalks, directed the PeeWee Baseb…all Little League, organized volunteer to rebuild a damaged baseball field, and protected North Sacramentans.

Officer Rea died in the line of duty on January 3, 1954. His Badge No.1 was retired thereafter.
