The Grand Re-Opening of Jack Rea Park takes place this Saturday, October 23 from 1pm – 3pm with a dedication at 1:30pm.
The park is named after Officer Francis M. (Jack) Rea of the former City of North Sacramento. Known as “Jack the Cop”, Officer Rea guarded school crosswalks, directed the PeeWee Baseball Little League, and organized volunteers to rebuild a damaged baseball field, all while protecting North Sacramentans and their families.
Officer Rea carried badge No. 1 until his tragic death in the line of duty in 1954. His badge number was later retired.
Councilmember Sandy Sheedy is hosting the event. For more information, call 808-7002.
