Here’s the review:
The Pacers showed glimpses of how great they can be – again – by walloping a very solid Montgomery of Santa Rosa team 42-0 on Friday in Del Paso Heights.
Yes, Grant was penalized 19 times – the referees blew some calls and Grant also had some bad blunders – but the defense was superb as was tailback Devontae Butler, who rushed for 212 yards and four touchdowns.
Glenn Deary was solid at quarterback, with so much more room to grow. He overthrew some and had other passes dropped. Viliami Moala is an amazing talent, as wide as deep freezer and agile and forceful on the lines. Sophomore Shaq Thompson did a little of everything: receptions, returns, punting, an interception.
All in all, a good showing for coach Mike Alberghini.
