Grant assistant coach may be victim of deadly shooting in Natomas [CONFIRMED]

Grant High School assistant football coach Ed Coleman is reported to be was one of the victims found deceased inside a Natomas early this morning. 

According to the Sacramento Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 8:42 a.m. on September 16, 2012 to a welfare check in the 2900 block of Holdrege Way.  Once inside the home, officers discovered two deceased bodies.

Family called into police dispatch concerned that they had not heard from the couple since Friday night.

Family and police arrived at the home, checked windows, knocked on doors and contacted neighbors.  There were no signs of the couple until officers checked inside the home and found the deceased.  Both appeared to have sustained gunshot wounds and a firearm was recovered near the couple.

The man in his 30s (allegedly Coleman) and the female in her 20s are boyfriend and girlfriend.

Homicide detectives, along with Crime Scene Investigators, were called to the scene.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office is assisting in the investigation and notifying next of kin prior to identification release of the deceased.

Sacramento Police say additional details are not available as the investigation is still ongoing and that there are no outstanding suspects at this time.
