The Sacramento Police Department is investigating the death of a man in the backyard of a Del Paso Heights home.

Officers responded at about 3am to the 600 block of Morey Ave on reports of a man who had been shot. Upon arrival, they found the man was dead.

Officers discovered marijuana growing on the property and police said it appears the homeowner was growing it legally. They would not say if the man was shot as he attempted to steal marijuana from the property.
