Kim Mack enters race for council seat

Councilmember Sandy Sheedy has got some competition for the District 2 election in 2012.

Kim Mack announced today she is running against the three-term incumbent in the June 2012 election. A resident of the Northpointe neighborhood, Mack ran President Barack Obama’s local campaign in 2008, and worked on Ami Bera’s recent unsuccessful campaign to unseat Rep. Dan Lungren in the 3rd Congressional District.

Mack was also a supporter of Mayor Kevin Johnson’s first Strong Mayor Initiative, though she left the campaign. There were questions of ethics.

Her campaign priorities are public safety, education, and job creation.
