Project DREAM hosting second annual shopping spree

Recent college-bound graduates of Twin Rivers Unified School District will be shopping with a favorite teacher or staff member for $300 in dorm supplies as part of Project DREAM’s Second Annual Shopping Spree taking place tomorrow at the Target in Natomas.

Participating students have overcome great adversity to be accepted to a four-year university and have participated in the College Bound 101 class to understand the basics of college housing, securing financial aid and making the transition to college. However, many do not have the resources to accommodate basic necessities for life in a dormitory such as sheets and towels.

The students will be shopping from 8:30-10:30am tomorrow with a teacher, coach or counselor who inspired them to go to college.

The College Bound program is funded through donations to Project DREAM by Target, Sacramento Bee’s Book of Dreams, individual donors and the Kelly Foundation.

Project DREAM (Developing Resiliency through Education, the Arts and Mentoring) is a private non-profit that supports enrichment activities in the schools and communities within Twin Rivers Unified School District. To donate to College Bound, visit www.dreamtwinrivers.com or call (916) 566-1759.
