Spread too thin?

The Natomas Unified School District held a board meeting last night and made drastic cuts to their budget. All of this comes on the heels of a grand jury investigation looking at the district’s purchase of a school site.

Most of the surrounding school districts – Sacramento City Unified and Twin Rivers – are struggling financially due to the economy. While both districts have multiple schools covering multiple neighborhoods, NUSD has 16 schools covering primarily both North and South Natomas, and its surrounding “Village” neighborhoods; the North Sacramento School District, the only other district operating in the City of Sacramento, has only 10 schools.

Has NUSD spread itself too thin? Should they consider consolidation and join with Sac City Unified or Twin Rivers?
